Jung Hyun Bae<\/strong> is a robotics engineer currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Georgia Institute of Technology<\/a> as a member of the Uncommon Sense Labs<\/a>, under the guidance of Dr. Adams<\/a>. He recently earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Dynamic Systems and Control<\/a> from the University of Texas at Austin<\/a> in 2024. His research interests include wearable healthcare device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His research focused on the design and control of robotic hands with anatomical similarities to achieve dexterous manipulation, conducted as a member of the Rehabilitation and Neuromuscular Robotics Lab<\/a> under the supervision of Dr. Deshpande<\/a>. He also contributed to a project in the Assistive and Rehabilitation Robotics Lab<\/a>, where he played a role as a research assistant in developing a soft exoskeleton and designing innovative mechanisms for the actuator. His expertise lies in dexterous control and the development of cable-driven actuator systems for wearable robots. In collaboration with the National Forest Organization, he also contributed to the development of wearable suits designed to reduce metabolic costs for forest workers during their tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He worked at the Veterans Medical Center (VHS) for two years starting in 2017, where he identified flaws in medical devices such as blood pressure and non-invasive blood pressure monitors and investigated the causes of their malfunctions. These experiences, particularly working with patients with unstable motions, led him to focus his research on wearable devices designed for rehabilitation and assisting individuals with impairments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
